- Paul Lennon, AONon-Executive ChairmanMr Lennon served as the 42nd Premier of Tasmania (2004-2008) and brings substantial knowledge of industry, also serving as the state’s Treasurer (2004-2006), the Minister for Infrastructure, Energy and Resources (1998-2002), and Minister for Economic Development, Energy and Resources (2002-2004).
With more than 30 years’ experience assisting the development of Tasmanian industry through government, Mr Lennon is exceptionally well equipped to oversee the development of ABx’s rare earths exploration and the proposed Alcore pilot plant, both of which are located in Tasmania.
In 2015, Mr Lennon was one of only two Tasmanians to be awarded Officer of the Order of Australia in recognition of his role in developing major infrastructure and enhancing economic diversification. - Dr Mark CookseyManaging Director & CEODr. Mark Cooksey is a highly experienced engineer with more than 25 years’ experience commercialising new technologies in the metallurgical industry, with a particular emphasis on aluminium.
Mark has direct experience in aluminium smelting, commencing his career as an engineer at Comalco (now Rio Tinto Alcan) where he assisted the aluminium smelter operations at Gladstone, QLD.
Dr Cooksey also has substantial knowledge of the commercialisation process for new technologies, serving a number of roles, including Senior Principal Research Leader, at the CSIRO for approximately 16 years. He has led the technical and commercial development of a number of new process technologies in the minerals and metals industries and this commercialisation activity included the development of novel technologies for both bauxite and rare earth element processing.
Mark holds a PhD (Chemicals & Materials Engineering) from the University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Engineering (Materials – First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Science (Information Technology and Applied Mathematics) from the University of Western Australia. - Ian LevyNon-Executive DirectorIan Levy is a geologist with more than forty years’ experience developing mines from discovery through to production.
Throughout his career, Mr Levy has worked for a number of major resources companies, including WMC Limited, Pancontinental Mining, Gympie Gold and also served as CEO of Allegiance Mining where he oversaw the development of a number of gold, bauxite, base metals, nickel and industrial minerals projects.
Ian was a member of the Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) for 11 years including 4 years as Vice Chairman and Federal President, Australian Institute of Geoscientists. - Mathew WatkinsCompany SecretaryMathew Watkins has extensive accounting, board leadership and company secretarial experience in ASX listed and large public entities in Australia. He shares the lead Company Secretarial role at Vistra Australia.
Mathew has worked in companies of a range of sizes in a variety of industries. He has extensive capital markets experience involving both secondary raisings and IPO’s. - Ms Joycelyn MortonNon-Executive DirectorJoycelyn Morton is a highly experienced executive and director, with over 30 years’ experience with Australian and international listed companies.
Ms Morton currently serves as a non-executive director of two ASX-listed companies; investment company Argo Global Listed Infrastructure Ltd (ASX:ALI) and Felix Group Holdings (ASX:FLX), which is a developer of a procurement management platform and vendor marketplace for the construction industry. She is a non-executive director of AIM-listed Gelion, a developer of innovative battery technologies, as well as energy infrastructure company Epic Energy Group.
Ms Morton has previously served as a non-executive director on a diverse range of boards, including Australia’s largest specialised naval defence company ASC Pty Ltd, Snowy Hydro Ltd and Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:BPT). She has been Chair of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee for multiple boards.
Earlier in her career, Ms Morton held senior positions at energy company Shell Australia and Shell International, and prior to that Woolworths Limited.
In addition to her corporate experience, Ms Morton is a Fellow and Life Member of CPA Australia, having served as the organisation’s National President. She also represented both CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand on the Board of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). - Paul GloverGeneral Manager Marketing, Exploration, Logistics and RelationshipsOver 20 years experience in the Fuels and Lubricants industry including roles in sales, production, and supply mostly at management level. Design Draughtsman in electronics and communications for Department of Defence.
Daily activities at ABx Group include negotiations with Landholders to arrange access for the purpose of exploration. Assist Geologists with Reconnaissance and preliminary exploration activities. Assist with the logistical requirements of Geologists and field teams for exploration programs. - Xiao LiangPrincipal Engineer - AlcoreDr. Xiao Liang has been a senior engineer at Alcore since 2021, bringing over fifteen years of expertise in chemical process innovation and intensification, including conceptual design, fundamental research, and process scale-up.
With extensive leadership experience, he drives cutting-edge technology development and oversees successful planning and implementation of new technologies at Alcore. Driven by a strong passion for research and innovation, he excels in process debottlenecking to optimise outcomes. - Vishva PatelProcess Engineer - AlcoreA chemical engineer with a master's degree in chemical process engineering from UNSW Sydney, working on the scale-up of Alcore's novel process for extracting fluorine from aluminum industry waste. Conducting laboratory work to improve the process's know-how, while also designing and coordinating the construction of a pilot plant for the process.
