R&D tax offsets of $600,000 (ABx Group $390,000 and ALCORE $210,000)
strengthen the Group's financial position and support continued investment in
its rare earths and clean fluorine chemical projects
ALCORE has fully repaid the unused grant funds received under the Federal
Government's Modern Manufacturing Initiative
ALCORE's application for a grant of up to $5 million under the Federal
Government's Industry Growth Program remains under assessment
ABx Group Limited (ASX: ABX) (ABx or the Company) and its 83%-owned subsidiary ALCORE
Limited (ALCORE) have received Research and Development tax offsets totalling
approximately $600,000 from the Australian Taxation Office for activities undertaken during
the 2025 financial year.
ABx received an R&D tax offset of $386,471.07, principally relating to activities associated
with the Company's wholly-owned rare earths project in northern Tasmania.
Separately, ALCORE received an R&D tax offset of $209,971.34, relating to the development
of its proprietary process to produce hydrogen fluoride and fluorine chemicals from an
aluminium smelter by-product. This was supported by an Overseas R&D Finding approval by
AusIndustry in 2025.1
The combined offsets strengthen the Group's financial position and support continued
investment in ABx's rare earths activities and the development and commercialisation of
ALCORE's clean fluorine chemical technology.
The ALCORE R&D tax offset is based only on operating expenditure during 2025. The R&D
tax offset based on capital expenditure for the continuous pilot plant will be received in
future years, after depreciation commences when the pilot plant commences operations.
Modern Manufacturing Initiative Repayment Completed
As previously announced, the Federal Government's Modern Manufacturing Initiative (MMI)
grant program concluded at the end of March 2025. The Department of Industry, Science
and Resources (DISR) approved $7.44 million in actual and committed ALCORE project
expenditure, representing $3.15 million in eligible MMI grant funds.2

As ALCORE had received two instalments of grant funds totalling $5.69m, $2.53 million of
unused grant funds was repayable to DISR. ALCORE and DISR agreed to a repayment
schedule consisting of approximately equal monthly instalments, concluding on 29 June
2026.3
In June 2026, the actual project expenditure was finalised as $7.26 million, $175,000 less than
the forecast $7.44 million. This meant that the unused grant funds to be repaid was updated
to be $2.61 million. ALCORE has now fully repaid this $2.61 million of unused funds,
completing its repayment obligations under the MMI grant program.
The MMI funding provided important support for the development of ALCORE's technology,
including laboratory testing, batch pilot plant activities and development of the continuous
pilot plant at Bell Bay, Tasmania. ALCORE is deeply appreciative of the significant financial
support provided by the Federal Government for this highly prospective technology, without
which it would not be commercialised in Australia.
Industry Growth Program Application
ALCORE remains under assessment for a Commercialisation and Growth Grant of up to
$5 million through the Federal Government's Industry Growth Program (IGP). The IGP
supports small and medium enterprises undertaking innovative commercialisation and
growth projects within priority areas of the Australian Government's National
Reconstruction Fund.
ALCORE submitted its application in late 2025. In August, DISR advised that applications have
been assessed for eligibility, with eligible applications progressing to the independent
assessment committee for merit assessment, and that grant outcomes are anticipated to be
available before the end of 2026.
ABx will update investors regarding the outcome of the application when appropriate.
ABx Group Managing Director and CEO Mark Cooksey said:
"ABx greatly values the Australian Government's R&D Tax Incentive, which continues to provide
important support for the innovative work being undertaken across our rare earths and clean
fluorine chemical projects. The $600,000 received by ABx and ALCORE strengthens our financial
position as we continue to advance our projects.
"We continue to appreciate the significant support the Federal Government has provided to the
development of the ALCORE technology. We look forward to the outcome of ALCORE's Industry
Growth Program application as we continue advancing the commercialisation of this important
Australian technology.”
